The Issue of Tattoos
Several years ago I was spending an evening with a really great friend when he asked me, “So what do you want to do tonight?” I said, “I guess we could go get a tattoo!”

It is my experience that younger people really do want someone in their lives to whom they can look for conversations, wisdom, encouragement, and answers.
What do we want from this generation? We want them to know our God and love Him. We want to influence our generation to love God’s Word, know it thoroughly, and apply it to the way they live their lives. We want them to be “all-in” for God and willing to follow Christ and live for His sake and the gospels. We want them to join the great cloud of witnesses who lived by faith and “subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, [and] obtained promises” (Hebrews 11:33). Those are what makes Christianity successful! Let’s stay focused on those things.
Let’s determine that this will never happen to us. Let’s determine that we will not close our lives by just being comfortable and casual in our Christianity. Let’s never get to the place where we refuse to acknowledge and repent when we are wrong. Let’s choose to live faithfully rather than pragmatically. We should be more than just tradition-defenders. We should also be team-players in the Lord’s work. Let’s never forget to seek God in our older years.
Remember this: Jesus loves the church and gave Himself for it! We believe that, don’t we? Rest in that as you seek a pastor.
Bethlie and I regularly encourage, love on, and pray with people who are hurting over their adult children. We don’t judge or criticize families that are broken and hurting. None of us should do that!
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Last week I wrote an article about the debate surrounding Proverbs 22:6. If you would like to read that article you can do so (HERE). It was in my heart to evaluate why there…
Solomon is not just sharing his wisdom to parents, he is sharing God’s wisdom to parents! Because I believe this, it changes my entire outlook on this verse.
Tomorrow Bethlie Joy and I celebrate 30 years of marriage. Last night we laughed at how fast the time has flown! And it really has. This morning I spend some time thinking about how we got here! We are in love. I joke that we are trying to set the world record for the longest…
I love teen camps. I especially love preaching at teen camps. This summer, I had the privilege of preaching in 5 different camps and, in my opinion, it was an epic summer of ministry. Here is what I have observed: I am thankful for the privilege to preach to so many teens. It is one…
